Research & learn to optimize your pages for long tail keywords (these are keywords where people are ready to buy: for example “women’s new balance shoes”).

Once you know how to optimize for those phrases, you’ll have visitors that know exactly what they want, and if you offer it to them, they’ll buy it.

If you want to learn more about the right way to do keyword research, as well as how to rank high for those keywords, take a look at this free offer: http://www.busy-moms-online.com/r/stomping-the-search-engines2.php

Sometimes a limited budget can help focus. It’s easy to spend a lot of money quickly online with limited results. However, there are ways to market online with limited budget.

One way to attract traffic to your site is by creating strong, exclusive content on your site that no-one else has e.g. a weekly column suggesting shoes that would go with the latest fashion item hot from the catwalks/red carpet (that you just happen to have in stock). Contact some bloggers who write about fashion and let them know that you will be regularly be posting on shoes. If they pick up one of your articles, you could start seeing traffic from their site.

You could also try submitting your site to relevant online directories. A submission on dmoz for example can really help drive targeted traffic to your site. The big search engines pay a lot of attention to the right directories. Do a search on “seo friendly directories” and have a read.

For more immediate and measurable results, perhaps try Pay Per Click (PPC). If you are not familiar with PPC, one definition is “an Advertiser is only charged when someone has not only seen their message but also shown that they want to know more by clicking on their … Advert”. In other words, you can ensure that you only pay when your ad is seen by someone who is interested enough to click on it which should help with your cash flow.

    Best of luck with everything.
